How do metal braces work?

Fixed metal braces use a series of small metal brackets attached to the front of each individual tooth. These brackets are connected by a metal archwire that runs through them, and small elastic bands are used to hold them all together.

During the course of treatment, you will visit our practice for regular adjustment appointments. Your orthodontist will make small adjustments in the archwires, which will create a gentle but targeted pressure that will slowly guide your teeth into proper alignment.
